Why Ohana?

Why Ohana?

Ohana means Family in Hawaiian language, ‘Family means no one is left behind or forgotten’.
We believe that every child is special. And therefore; has the right to be nurtured and grow up in a secure and loving environment, which in turns enabling them a progressive future to achieve their full potential.
Ohana Parental Assessment Centre undertakes parenting assessments and provides intensive interventions to help parents develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to provide a safe and loving environment for their children.

Successive Criteria

We use a variety of evidence-based tools as part of a systematic approach to assessment, analysis and intensive intervention planning.
All our work is carried out in line with recommendations from the Departments of Health and Education.
We use evidence-based assessment tools including the Home Observation for Measurement of the Environment (HOME) inventory (Cox and Walker 2002) and the Child Protection Decision Making SAAF instruments (Bentovim et al, February 2012).
Our facilities are of a high standard and are designed to meet the needs of vulnerable families seeking support, comfort and privacy. Families are welcomed and cared for at all times during their stay; safety and security is paramount.
Families are able to access a wide range of professionals with Resolve: we work with social workers, mental health specialists, children’s nurses, health visitors, midwives, psychiatrists and psychologists and teachers. All our staff are highly experienced. Each member of our team is registered with their individual professional body and has undergone a DBS check. We also invest in regular training updates and have a vigorous process of supervision.
Too often, children and families are let down by a lack of continuity when a residential placement ends. All of Resolve’s staff work across our residential sites and within the community, providing continuous and consistent support when children and families return home.

Ohana Parental Assessment Centre staff and management thank you, and thank you for bringing my family together with provision of a fresh start. The journey seems endless, but your support and reassurance enables us as a family to be together. We’ve learnt so much on the Parenting Capacity Assessment programme that we’ll sure use in our day-to-day needs.

From the moment I arrived at Ohana Parental Assessment Centre unit, I was greeted with warmth and compassion. The management and staff consistently reassured that everything would be ok, therefore they go above and beyond to ensure that residents feels welcomed and valued. I was supported in scheduling my appointments, coordinating referrals, positive feedbacks and always giving me a listening ear, with their open door policy. This demonstrates genuine care and support for all residents. Much appreciated.
